“I’ve got a great job, with lots of challenges and opportunities,” explains Katrin Sinderhauf. “From the very first day, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the scope of work and the team work with people from different scientific backgrounds”. Katrin Sinderhauf is team leader for GC/MS laboratory; she is a food chemist and joined CLF after completing her PhD in pesticide analysis.

“At CLF, pesticide analysis is a stimulating challenge because we’re dealing with baby food and clinical nutrition,” Katrin continues. “This means we need to work with very strict limits of detection at very low concentrations. We are using the very latest technology which gives use tremendous scope for pesticide analysis. Recently, I was closely involved in the purchase and installation of LC/MS/MS (Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry). This new technology extends our scope in analysing complex pesticides, and adds exciting dimensions to my work” .

“But with well over 2000 known pesticides of which some 800 or more are used in Europe, we really need to scope for the relevant pesticides. This brings another stimulating dimension to my job because we need to interact closely with our customers – the production plants – as well as other external laboratories and research organisations.”
